Ask any music lover and they'll agree that there is nothing more beautiful than pure family harmony. Then ask any music lover that has ever heard The Bennetts, and they'll agree that this is a family born to sing.
Louisiana, a place noted for its strong musical roots, is home to sisters Lori, Julie and Sara Bennett, and theirs is a home with a rich musical legacy. Their mother, Sharon, was the pianist and vocalist for a Southern Gospel trio during the late 60's and early 70's, called "The Jubilaires." She also served as church pianist for many years. The girls developed their love of music during their childhood while traveling and listening to their mother sing. They accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior at early ages, and opportunities to sing in church helped foster their God-given talents and also gave them a heart for ministry. So, for those who know the girl's, it is no surprise that they've become one of Louisiana's favorite female vocal groups.
In 1998, ultimately believing that the Lord was calling them to use their talents for him in a special way, Lori, Julie and Sara solidified their commitment to spreading God's word by forming the gospel vocal group aptly named The Bennetts. Some will remember their cousin, Lissie Theriot, joined the group in its original formation as a quartet. Lissie traveled and sang with them for four years but then left the group in early 2002 to devote more time and attention to her family, church ministries, and her position as an administrative assistant of a private school. While with The Bennetts, Lissie was a featured soloist on two recordings. Since her departure, the three sisters have continued on as a trio, not missing a beat in their desire to share the Good News through music. While most often classified as a Southern Gospel trio, the girls have found a wealth of inspiration from other genres of music as well, thus producing a sound that many have described as progressive southern gospel with a country flair and a blend that is reminiscent of The McGuire Sisters. There is no denying the family harmony here! With their self-titled freshman project released in September 2000, the girls showcased their unique family blend on old favorites like "More Than You'll Ever Know" and several new songs. The trio is now proud to announce their second independent release, "Say the Word." After two years, The Bennetts have come up with an exciting collection of Gospel favorites...some previously recorded and others totally brand new, each flavored with their captivating, unforgettable vocal style. The Lord has opened many doors for The Bennetts to minister in churches, community events, prisons and nursing homes. They have also shared the stage with some of gospel music's finest, including The Nelons, Jeff and Sheri Easter, The Hoppers, Charles Johnson and The Revivers, and in 2002 the girls were honored to showcase their harmonies while opening for the Louisiana Baptist Convention. Meaningful testimonies, tight harmonies, sensitive spirits, and most important, a desire to see others come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior have gained The Bennetts the trust of many to present the Gospel in song throughout the South. The Bennetts' mission is simple: To reach the lost and encourage God's church through singing the Good News of Jesus Christ! |
